The Assassin's Order (Part 2)

Post by Ryuuma on Thu Dec 02, 2010 5:31 pm

After a days travel, Ryuuma had finally arrived at the Jungle of the Bulmarta Valley. Equipped with nothing but his two trusty blades, Ryuuma enters the gloomy jungle without fear carrying the treasure of the Kaja clan on his back. Ryuuma expected others to follow, aiming for the target on his back so he entered with caution. The jungle was thick and difficult to traverse. Ryuuma had no other choice but to draw Hakujin and hack at the branches in front of him, cutting out a path. Of course he had no idea where he was going... Nobody had given him any clues or directions to guide him to the village so after an hour or so, Ryuuma was hopelessly lost. "I'm going to kill Chaz when I get out of this..." He said to himself. He hated how Chaz just accepted missions from the higher ups without his consent. He always ended up being the one they dumped their crap jobs on to and Ryuuma couldn't stand it! After this mission he was going to have to have a 'talk' with Chaz and make sure he doesn't accept another gig like this again... Ryuuma was a warrior, and shouldn't be treated like somebodies personal delivery boy. After his long search, Ryuuma came across a small stream. Suddenly he thought his luck was starting to change. He not only could have a quick, refreshing drink but he could follow this stream. If he were going to build a village he'd want to build it next to a source of water, so by following the stream he could potentially locate the village.

The jungle was dense, small waterfalls had formed and the river narrowed and expanded on many points. The jungle gave off a feeling of paranoia from every angle danger could be lurking, the trees felt as if eyes followed every movement made within the jungle. The young man Ryuuma walked aside the river as from the shadows a figure clad in cloth watched every move he made, he seemed calm and did not make any sound. From the river side a snake jumped at Ryuuma from his blind spot, the figure threw a knife through the snakes head nailing it to a tree, the sound was loud enough to be heard. The figure dissappeared but left a small trace.

Ryuuma quickly drew his sword and spun as the snake was pierced by the blade, taking a defensive stance. The silent critter would have bitten him had the blade not struck it. His eyes widened as he saw the snakes blood run down the blade of the dagger. He quickly looked in the direction the blade was thrown, but nobody was there. He now knew he was being watched, but by who he wondered. He cautiously walked towards the general area where he assumed the person had thrown the dagger and quickly scanned the area... He found a foot print. By the shape, shoe pattern and traces of straw he could tell that it was a sandal, the kind worn by assassins to keep their steps silent. On a branch nearby he also found a piece of black cloth. He sniffed the cloth and noted that it had an odd aroma that he would recognize if he smelled it again. He scanned the rest of the area but could spot nothing else. Whoever was following him was skilled at keeping him or herself hidden. Ryuuma decided not to pursue his follower, assuming he or she was a friend, having saved him from the snake that was most likely poisonous. He turned and continued his journey up the river, more wary of his surroundings than he was before. He wouldn't allow such a thing as a snake to get the better of him again.

A trial was left all along the trees, small gashes in trees, broken twigs. Yet another path seemed to have been formed, it was a path that was cleared, the cut of foilage lay on the ground and judging from the twigs it was fresh. Yet the river was a main suply for all life in the jungle. Which road must one take to reach his goal?

Option 1. Obvious trail left by masked figure (too obvious?)
Option 2. Dark spooky Cleared path
Option 3. Follow the river on a hunch

Ryuuma growled silently as another choice befell him. "God damnit..." He said as he glared down all of the paths one after another. The first path seemed rough and narrow, while the other seemed clear and obvious. He scratched the back of his head and sighed as he decided to follow his own hunch and ignore the other two paths. Either one of the two paths could be a trap set up by the assassins, however the path he chose himself couldn't possibly be... How would the assassins know he wouldn't follow either path? He continued to follow the river, knowing that it was the best way to stay on track, and avoid any unneeded conflict. If he couldn't find the village he always had the option of turning around and going back down the river. However it was unlikely that Ryuuma would actually turn around... He had to much pride to admit that he was wrong and turn around. He always moved forward, confident in his own decisions.

The river continued running through the jungle and around rocks and trees. As the jungle became less dense, the water sped up. At the end a waterfall was seen it was less big as the Bulmarta falls that was clear in sght from every spot in the jungle, yet it was still a intimidating waterfall.

From behind Ryuuma an assasin appeared, diffrent from the one from before, he was clad in red cloth and had his katana drawn. His eyes meant business, Yet friend or foe was unclear.

Option 1. JUMP (from waterfall)
Option 2. ATTACK
Option 3. Try to reason with the assasin

Ryuuma glared out over the valley as he stood at the peak of the cliff by the waterfall. The jungle was vast and he was unable to see the end of it from such a height, however he could see that the river went on for miles... He didn't see any hint of a village, however he didn't assume an assassins village would be easy to spot so he didn't give up hope. Just as he was about to continue on his stubborn path down the cliff to continue to follow the river, an assassin appeared. Ryuuma turned to face the Assassin.

He raised an eyebrow as he was somewhat confused... He doubted the Assassin wanted to kill him, otherwise he would have tried to kill him stealthily as most assassins would... Or maybe he was just arrogant. He wasn't the same assassin who saved him from the snake earlier. His clothes were a different color than the piece of cloth he found, and his scent was different. He gripped the hilt of Hakujin and stepped forward as he spoke to the Assassin who's motives were unclear. "What do you want?" He asked in an assertive tone of voice. He didn't expect to intimidate the Assassin, he just didn't want to appear weak.

The fact Ryuuma tried to reason instead of attacking gave the assasin an opening to throw some strange pieces of paper to both sides of Ryuuma. They didn;t seem threatening, yet the assasin did. He did not speak he only brought the blade of his katan to his head and with a fell swoop he cut towards ryuuma. A blinding light came from the balde as it headed for Ryuuma.

Re: The Assassin's Order (Part 2)

Post by Ryuuma on Thu Dec 02, 2010 11:35 pm

Ryuuma's eyes narrowed as the Assassin threw the paper at him, though due to the speed the paper was traveling he couldn't exactly tell what it was made of and assumed the worst. There were once small clans of Assassins on Shinto Island where he lived as a child. They used trickery to their advantage, concealing the true nature of their attacks. So out of instinct Ryuuma didn't trust the Assassins attacks and thought it was better not to make contact with them. He leaped forward to gain a little distance from the projectiles that flew by both sides of him fast enough to meet the Assassin half way, as he tried to swing his own sword down on to Ryuuma, he gripped the hilt of Hakujin and drew it rapidly. He swung his blade with all of his might and made contact with the Assassin's katana. The strength of Ryuuma's draw was extraordinary and if the Assassin's katana was made of ordinary steel, which it appeared not to be it would be cut in two leaving the Assassin with a mere five inch blade. However the strength of the Soul Shattering Strike was amplified by Ryuuma's Iaidoo mastery so even if the blades hardness had been strengthened by magic, it would require a considerable amount of mana to prevent it from being severed.

Spoiler:

Name: Iaidoo Mastery (Special)
Description: Iaidoo is an art associated with the smooth, controlled movements of drawing the sword from its scabbard, striking or cutting an opponent, removing blood from the blade, and then replacing the sword in the scabbard. Ryuuma has mastered this skill to the point where the strength of his offensive abilities are greatly increased when used with a Draw. Skills that would normally cause Low to medium damage will double in strength, however attacks that are already of great power (High - Very High Damage) Will only receive a minimal increase in damage which makes using this technique on a high damage technique pointless.
Mana Cost: + 20 MP to an offensive (Medium Damage) technique when performed with a draw.
Health Deduction: Varies depending on the associated tech.

Name: Soul Shattering Strike
Description: Making good use of Hakujin's Diamond hard blade, Ryuuma swings his sword with all his might allowing him to cut through hard substances such as stone or even steel. Swift Dragon Style - Wrath can be used in combination with this technique to extend its range, allowing him to cut through more massive defenses, such as castle walls or gates. This technique is mainly used for disarming his opponents or cutting though tough defenses that otherwise seem impenetrable. Natural substances that are not empowered by magic will not withstand this attack, however spells that amplify the durability of a substance that use a greater amount of MP used in this technique will required multiple strikes to break through, depending on difference in MP.
Mana Cost: 20 MP ( 40 MP with Wrath )

The assasin's blade snapped as well as his arm, It now faced dowwards instead of upwards. Yet instead of Screaming in pain he laughed "If i die, you do too" With only those words the papers started to burn and the assasins clothes burned away, thousands of papers became visible as the sides and the assasin blew up. The ground were Ryuuma stood crumbled, the fire lunged towards ryuuma.

Due to the blindness caused by the flash of light that was emitted from the Assassin's sword, Ryuuma was unable to see the flames as they began to burn away his clothes. However he was able to feel the heat of the fire, which provoked him to quickly move away. with his right foot he kicked off the ground in front of him and vanished, appearing over the cliff, a silent boom sound could be heard as he kicked. This was one of his many skills known as Air walking. He kicked off the ground with such speed and force that it actually compressed the air beneath his foot creating a small explosion that propelled him at a much faster speed than normal. He began to fall rapidly down to earth, the cliff face providing more than enough cover from the explosion. Ryuuma didn't mean to fall off the cliff, it was just that he couldn't see where he was going on the count of him being blind and all... He soon realized that he was falling much farther than he should have been and began to panic. He regained a portion of his vision and could make out the shapes of trees below him. He quickly scanned the area and saw that he wasn't far from the waterfall which fell in to the river. He sheathed Hakujin and with his left foot, he kicked the air with enough force to propel himself towards the river, diverting his path enough to fall in to the river. Luckily, he missed the rocks and surfaced safely. "Fucking crazy assassins..." Ryuuma said to himself. He swam to the left side of the river and climbed on to shore and continued to follow the river...

An obvious path was made near the bottom of the waterfall, it was clear this was a path for people to carry fresh water back to their village. Yet paths like this could form a weakness for said village, would it be save to follow it? Or was this a trap set up to lead robbers and enemy's to their grave? This lead might be the only one, to enter the unknown and deal with whats beyond it or search for a diffrent path down the river. A choice which anyone confrronted with this should make. Or is their a third option, one only a creative mind can think of?

Ryuuma glared down the path, it seemed fairly obvious what it was for. A trail that led straight to the water was most likely used to transport that water. However, Ryuuma didn't see any sign of a village from the top of the cliff so it didn't seem to make any sense as to why such an obvious path would be made by assassins who are known to be a little more subtle than that... He paused for a moment and started to think back to his days on Shinto Island... He had been a part of a raid that raided an assassin's village. The village was hidden in an undersea cavern. He scratched the back of his head as he ran through all the possibilities until a thought came to mind. He turned around to face the waterfall and glared at it for a moment before walking towards the cliff face. He peeked in behind the waterfall to see if there was any kind of cave, or path leading behind the waterfall. It would be a perfect hiding spot and it was close so Ryuuma decided that it wouldn't hurt to check it out.

Unfortuantly behind the waterfall was nothing but solid rock, the water calmly drissled down as the waterfall raged before it. The cleared path was tempting yet the river was aswell, assasins are secret folk that need to anticipate everything. This cleared path was suspicious as it was obvious yet even when the path is obvious an assasin must train to be on gaurd. Might this path be a training ethod in which getting water is an extra? Or is it a trap and would the river be a more secure method.

(whatever you pick do not write you seeing the village until i write it being in view)

Ryuuma sighed as he realized his hunch was a bust. So much for creative thinking... "Fuck it." He said as he glared down the cleared path. He closed his eyes and sighed before opening his eyes and making his way down the path that most would assume to be an obvious trap. Perhaps the fact that it was so obvious made it less likely to be a trap. Of course that was just one of the many comforting thoughts going through Ryuuma's head at the time... He held the hilt of Hakujin tightly as he made his way down the path, keeping his eyes and ears open, ready to fend off an attack at any moment...

The trees creaked and the wind blew through the leaves, vines were growing everywhere. Suddenly a vine snapping sound from the bushes a dozen knifes came flying from out of the tree infront came a ram. The sound was loud and birds flew up, from the trees to the left targets dropped down, they had red and white rings on them. The vital spots were marked with holes, the wear and tear was large.

Reacting quicky, Ryuuma drew Hakujin and swung downwards towards the Ram that was about five feet in diameter and two meters long. "Soul Shattering Strike!" He yelled as he swung his sword before the ram had even reached him. Suddenly, the large tree split in two down the middle and swung past Ryuuma on both sides, the right piece of the ram actually blocking the daggers that were flying towards him. He quickly eyed up what seemed to be dummy targets. Ryuuma quickly leaped out of the way of the two halves of the Ram that swung back towards him and quickly scanned the area. It appeared to be nothing more than a simple trap. Though the dummies were off... Soon Ryuuma came to the conclusion that this was in fact a Training ground for the Assassins. He decided to continue following the path, and follow it he did. How hard could an Assassin's training really be? He wondered.

The ground infront seemed scorched black, yet the ground behind him aswell. What could this mean? time t thin was not present as a fizzling sound could be heard. The ground rummbled and the hissing of snakes could be heard fromt he surrounding jungle. This place seemed infested with snakes, Suddenly fire sprouted in the back it was at least 3 meters tall, the fire moved forward. The speed was great and out running it would be hard. The black scorched ground stopped in the distance yet two large metal blades swung back and forth over it, they swung from left to right meeting in the middle.

Re: The Assassin's Order (Part 2)

Ryuuma's eyes widen as he saw the pyre rise behind him. He quickly dashed towards one of the swinging blades and leaped on to it, grabbing the rope that held it and place his feet on the blade itself. As the blade reached the edge of the path, he saw what seemed to be thousands of colorful snakes that hissed and tried to strike him, but missed due to the blade beginning to swing the opposite direction. With no other option left, Ryuuma leaped from the swinging blade on to the other just before they crossed. As soon as his foot touched the blade he leaped from the blade landing on the ground. There was still quite a lot of distance to cover, so Ryuuma had no other choice but to resort to Air Walking. He kicked off the ground compressing the air beneath his foot creating a small explosion under his foot which propelled him forward at a fast enough speed to out run the pyre. He let out a sigh of relief as the fire dispersed and he was safe. He wiped a bit of sweat from his forehead and stood up, dusting himself off. "You're going to have to do better than that!" He said with a grin as he looked farther down the path.

Spoiler:

Name: Air Walk
Description: Ryuuma applies the same principles as the Swift Dragon Styles to his feet, and quickly kicks off the ground which compresses the air below his feet causing it to explode after compression launching him from his original position at high speeds. This technique allows him to swiftly move throughout the battle field and dodge large attacks that would otherwise be unavoidable. Due to the strain this ability puts on the users legs, this technique should not be overused for the risk of cracking the bones in the users leg.
Mana Cost: 10 MP per step.
Health Deduction: N/A

Name: Izanami's Blessing (Passive)
Description: Izanami, the creator of the blade placed a spell upon the sword that would forever protect the wielder. This spell causes the blade to dull in the hands any other than the hands of a member of the Doragon family. The blades own desire to ensure its masters survival will grant its master +10 MP per post.

Suddenly the first signs of civilasation appaered two walls stretching for at least 100 meters and 4 meters tall, incarved with drawings of assasins and murders. At the end a strange statue, as soon as one entered a gate dropped on both sides of the tunnel and escape back was sealed. The walls started closing in on each other it would squash any within them. At random times knifes and arrows shot out of the walls, as well as small pit falls opening every so often. It would be impossible to cross it in time, one would die in here or would they?

Option 1. Dive into pitfall
Option 2. Try to climb in between walls to the top

(wrong choice is -100 health)

Ryuuma's eyes widened as the walls began to close in. "Fuck, Fuck, Fuck and FUCK!" was all Ryuuma could spit out as he began to run as fast as he could down narrowing path. It was difficult dodging the arrows and daggers that kept shooting out of the sides and jumping over all the pitfalls, in fact it slowed him down far too much to be able to reach the other side, and soon Ryuuma was fed up with it. He stopped after jumping over one of the pitfalls and grabbed the hilt of Hakujin, preparing to use the Soul Shattering Strike, his greatest technique that he developed on his own. Before he had a chance to draw his sword, a dagger flew out of the wall and passed just in front of Ryuuma cutting the scarf that was wrapped around his chest, the very scarf that held [i]The Box[/b] on his back. The box fell down the pitfall behind Ryuuma. He looked back, seeing the box falling down to the bottom of what was probably a lake filled with a thousand crocodiles... "FUCK---!" He yelled as he dove down the pitfall to retrieve the box. He grabbed it mid fall, and looked down at what was most likely his impending doom.

The pit was only 2 meters depp and the walls slammed together above the opening. A loud click could be heard after 10 seconds had passed and the walls started to return to their origenal positio the pitfalls started to close one by one, enough time to get one self out of it. Beyond this tunnel was a small sand path that led up to a large stone gate. A riddle was written on the wall, a flash of fire could be seen in the distance. Someone was following the same path as Ryuuma but he had enough time to get through the gate undetected. IF he solved the riddle, the wrong answer would force him to meet his persuer.

The riddle read:
Which mammel flies, yet can't fly A small magical plate was mounted underneth it stroking ones finger over it made letters appear.

Ryuuma read the riddle and drew a blank... He scratched the top of his head and roared in anger at his own ignorance... "The hell is that supposed to be!?" He said to himself loudly... He turned around noticing that the torch light seems to be getting closer and closer, he didn't have time to think... "Uhh... witches fly with broom sticks... Maybe that's it! but witches were originally human... God damnit!" He looked back and realized he had just about no time left. He turned to the plate and formed the first word that came to mind, "human." was what he wrote. He prayed to Izanagi that it was right...

A strange rumbling appeared from the gates as the stone began to move, The light from behind it shone brightly blinding those trying to look past it. Yet past this light lay the village, it was surrounded by wooden logs and the town gates were easely visible. The gates started to close and the person coming from behind would be here shortly as the stone walls from before started to move towards each other. Yet after all this the main question remained, which assasin clan is this ?

Ryuuma walked through the gates slowly, entering the Assassin's village. He walked in casually so as to give the impression that he was a friend of some sort. Now, how does one find out the name of the village, Ryuuma thought to himself. The obvious answer would be to ask a local... Hopefully they would just answer him without a fuss. Although he appeared to be and was, a Samurai... The natural enemy of the assassin. At least in most places he thought. Perhaps things were different on the mainland and the Assassin's had no natural enemies here. He walked through the village a short ways until he found one of the locals. A woman who appeared to be in her early thirties. "Hey, excuse me..." He said as he approached the woman. "Whats the name of this village?" He asked as politely as he possibly could... He wasn't a naturally polite person, and somewhat anti-social so asking a stranger about specific details proved difficult at times.
