Rules & Regulations - the index Empty General rules

Post by Areos Fri Aug 06, 2010 11:07 pm

    1. Never disrespect the admins
we can screw you over. HARD.
    2. Always abide by the rules

    3. No godmoding.
For those unaware of what the term means when applied to a RP context it is used to describe a players acting in manner where they are not bound or limited by anything (such as their Characters inability to do something) and show no regard for the actions of other people. No 'going Dragonball Z' paraphrases this rule.

    highlight for info:
Here are a few random examples (they are not taken from anywhere on site, this is not an exercise to point out peoples RP skills, which take time to develop after all):

    In a Standard RP Context

-A character runs in to an enemy he cannot hope to defeat. Next post he claims to kill the enemy in a blink of an eye without even losing a heart beat.

    4. If you come into any trouble, please inform the admins

    5. Do not spam
or suffer from the consequences. Especialy: Do not spam in the Admin and Mod area unless the post explicitly asks for it. It is meant for people to read new updates/announcements or the like. Any questions refering to something in this area, please contact Crimson Moon, Areos or any of the Mods.

    6. Please keep your posts at proper length

to a bare minimum of 4 sentences. There is no particular upper limit, but if you intend on writing books: some people won't bother even starting to read.

    7. No metagaming.
For those unaware of what the term means when applied to a RP context it is used to describe a players' use of assumed characteristics of the game. In particular, metagaming often refers to having a character act on knowledge that only the player has access to.

    highlight for info:
Here are a few random examples (they are not taken from anywhere on site, this is not an exercise to point out peoples RP skills, which take time to develop after all):

    In a Standard RP Context:

A character tricking a medusa to stare at a mirror when the character has never even heard of medusas and should not be aware of their petrifying stare

    8. FAQ means frequently asked questions.
Those asking questions answered in the FAQ, Shall be punished. seriously, we got better stuff to do than introduce the whole RP to you.

    9. No cyber bullying
If anything like this is reported, and can be proven your account will be banned for 1 week unless you produce a valid reason. The pm must be forwarded to the admins. Even without prove you will be contacted on that matter, and if reported too often you may very well be banned aswell.

    Regulations:

OOC: Use () when talking Out of Character.(brb, dinner) Note that OOC posts do not affect gameplay.

Sexual content: You may not engage in sexual gameplay in this forum. However, you may do it through pms. Remember, no one wants to know how you got a girl pregnant. If it is an NPC, then go ahead and post. But you are not to post the process. Just slight details like *Brings girl into room* and after that *Puts on shirt*for short, timeskip.

Violence: You are not to engage in overly bloody and gory situations. If you are desprate for it, please respond by putting [M18] before your post and putting the post into a spoiler as so
    Code:
    ([spoiler] insert text[/spoiler])

    Dying:
You can't just kill off other characters, the same usualy applies with NPC's that you belong to someone else. Your character may die if you wish to, and create a new char. However, if its plausible and you did not heed the warnings that your character is in serious danger, it might very well happen that your character will be forced to die. Wether it is plausible or not will be decided by the mods/admins. Characters that decide to run or flee will most likely not be killed.

Rules & Regulations - the index Empty How to write

Post by Areos Fri Aug 06, 2010 11:07 pm

Ok, for newcomers and people who tend to just use their own writing style(I'm looking at you kanda): there are a couple of rules on how certain things are written. I leave most of it to you, but please try using this style of writing.

    1) direct speech - if you use direct speech than with quotation marks. (example: "Are you kidding me?" Leneor asked. "It's not like you realy do have a chance beating me.") you can also use [ Areos: "alright... "] of course.

    2) general actions - is written without any special indications. Please use third narator PoV.

    3) thoughts - things your char only uses within his mind is written in italics, even telepathy. (example: Leneor looked upwards at the sky. Hell, how do I get out of this crap now? )

    4) things that are out of roleplay are written inside brackets. that includes health deduction (preferably at the end of the post) comments about other posts or notifications.
    example:
Leneor walked through the darkness, looking around (he has good eyes, he can see quite well in the dark) spotting his target easily. He did miss the large stone on the ground however, he tripped and hurt his head on a wall opposing wall. Hard.

    (Health -15)
(oh yeah, btw, i'll be away till next week)

    5) If your character is speaking in another language, please write in a diffrent color. We dont want to search translators to understand whats going on - since Metagaming isnt allowed the characters most likely wont understand anyway.
    Example:
Leneor closed in on the cloaked figure, he could make out sounds, but could not understand what they said.
"five hours, thats the limit. be there till then."
    "understood."
"and Pedro..." the cloaked figure smiled. "good luck." Leneor did understand the last part - good luck... they were up to no good, he could tell.

    6) more coming soon...

Rules & Regulations - the index Empty Absence

Post by Areos Fri Aug 06, 2010 11:10 pm

Well, this isn't really a rule, more of courtesy...anyways. If you're going to be away for an extended amount of time for example, a week or more. Please tell the others that in the announcements or PM either Areos, Moon or myself so we can put you on inactive. There are a few cases of RP's that are stalled at the moment, I understand that it is the time for holidays, but please post something to let us know that you're not going to be on for x amount of days so it doesn't conflict with RP's, thanks (Of course, this only applies when you're actively in an RP).

    -Pants

We would appreciate it if you actually declare within the thread you're currently posting in that you're going to be absent. I also reccomend not making a cliffhanger but make some sort of 'finisher' for your character, so there is no particular need to include him. Ofcourse those are only neccessary if you intend to leave for a longer time period (like a week or more).

Rules & Regulations - the index Empty Fighting rules

Post by Areos Fri Aug 06, 2010 11:11 pm

If you engage a fight, follow these basic rules:

    Actions:
Your character may act according to his abilities, so please try not to dash over the battlefield and evade every blow even though you’re a slow and heavy fighter.

    Others Actions:
if you intend to attack another player, please refrain from deciding what will happen, you cannot decide whether he really was hit or not. You wouldn’t want others to decide what your char does either.
(Exception: if you give someone allowance for a certain action and vice versa.)

    Health:
if your health drops too far you’ll faint or die (depending on situation) and thus be rendered useless for a short while.

    Mana:
Your skills cost Mana, or at least something that works like it. If you used it up then it’s your own fault, as there aren’t many items that replenish it.

    Hit & evade:
There are neither impossible to dodge attacks or limitless evades, try to be reasonable with your character. There is no rule on how much you can evade, but please don’t overdo it with your attacks.

Rules & Regulations - the index Empty Health and Mana

Post by Areos Fri Aug 06, 2010 11:36 pm

So, whats the big deal with Mana and Health?

Health and Mana are important for your character, but everyones diffrent after all, not everyone can take as much damage as somebody else, some witches have greater Mana sources to cast spells - for short, we differ. And its not much diffrent about here. Yet we have to make it even, you cannot be an omnipotent being that never dies and never runs out of Mana.

So how does it work? simple:

Each new member can have their character become a tough brute or an enchanting magician as they wish. There are 1200 points you can spend into either Health or Mana, depending on how you want your character. In the future you can even raise these stats.

Are there rules how I have to split it up?

The way the mana and Health is split is more or less left to you (meaning any combination like 400/800 , 600/600 , 250/950 )
Ps: it would be appropriate not to let something go below 100 or use number like 684/516. this however is not forbidden.)

    how can I decide?

please contact a mod or admin to change your HP and MP stats, thank you.
    your Admin Areos

Hey, wait, I saw people with way more mana and Health in total!

Dont be surprised, aside from the fact that you can raise your Health and Mana there are a couple of veterans on this site, they gained a bonus on health and Mana.

Rules & Regulations - the index Empty The STD

Post by Areos Sat Aug 07, 2010 12:07 am

STD? What is that supposed to mean?

The -story telling device- is actually a feature for all mods and Operators (as well as Admins, surprise surprise) and actually should be considered like some kind of divine intervention. They actually take the place of a narrator, taking over enemies, pose some kind of riddle to the group, or just force them to react to things that they cannot predict.

    What are these for?

The use of it is to control Missions and actually relieve some of the story telling from the characters themselves. These storytelling devices will not show up to regulary, but if they do, one should try to work with what is given to him, even if some might seem unfair or put your character in unjust situations.
Sometimes at the end of these events there might be options added that one can chose from. these are stated rather loosely and players may go ahead in how to do it. Usualy another STD will show up soon and either grant you a bonus or a penalty for your decision.

    How much can they decide?
Also, these STD's can mostly ignore the rules of fighting, they can attack and already say that the character took damage (maybe even how much). that is mostly because we cannot allow people to just decide that their enemy is super strong, and seems to beat every other char, but one's own char can easily evade every attack and knock him out.
That said, thse STD's can also act as a way to correct 'wrong' storytelling, instead of an edit option. In that case there will be a note attached to inform who did something, and what he did wrong.

    an example:

    [STD]

The witch attacked Leneor straight on, and delivered a strong blow into his guts. before he could even react she stood behind him again , whispering into his ears: "This will be your Deathbed"

    [Leneor: health - 15]
    {witch HP: 2400}

Rules & Regulations - the index Empty class upgrades

Post by Areos Tue Sep 14, 2010 7:10 pm

As your character grows in strength he will surely reach new hights and be considered more of a fighter than before. So if you are a bluerobe but acquired the strength to fight through several missions and rise to the level of a blackrobe, you should become one.
However, we have restrictions. If you become a higher class you have to fullfill certain objectives, look up yours at the following chart

    innitial class new class requirements
grey --> green Powerlevel of 250
green --> blue Powerlevel of 1000
blue -->black Powerlevel of 4000 + Test in fighting skills
    black--> white Powerlevel of 15 000 + mod approval + duel with a whiteclass

    i) these ofcourse will only be neccessary to level up, you can start as a blackclass, but people going through the leveling process will gain certain bonuses.

ii) your powerlevel is determined by the amount of posts you made in the roleplay area, you'll figure out how much each post adds to your count, in general it will be around 25p.

iii) The tests and duels will be explained as you reach the allowance to take one, once you have fullfilled all requirements you will be turned into a higher grade.

iv) Your own class level displayed below your avatar is also determined by this chart, your character has to fullfill the tasks in order for you to level up.
